@ Culture Station Seoul 284
This workshop was a part of the exhibition " Life A User's Manual" and it was organized by a cafe owner and food journalist, Suehyang Kim.
Mr. Takada is a farmer in Chiba in Japan. He grows organic vegetable in 'Doremi farm'. He showed how to make pickled vegetables in this workshop and his pickle jars were nicely exhibited like a piece of art in the same space.
After this workshop, Suehyang did a presentation about her cafe, food trips and her thoughts about food and markets. Suehyang explains that she wants to make people more opportunities to buy food from the people who actually grow the food. She also organized a food market where people can meet city farmers, young bakers and independent food makers.
As big super market chains spread all over the country, many of traditional markets has lost their customers. People drive to supermarkets and shop everything there. Due to the supermarket invasion, great number of small grocery shops and bakeries in town have disappeared.
I hope her effort to revive the food markets will make people's life more healthy and diverse.
